Title: Towards a Practical Visual Tracker

Abstract:

Research on visual object tracking has been performed for more than three decades and many encouraging results have been obtained. In practice, there are huge possible image variations such as the illumination, pose, occlusion and image quality which will degrade the performance of visual trackers. In this talk, I will first report our research work on video surveillance. After that, I will present two recently developed visual trackers: low resolution face tracker and feature-fusion based object tracker.

报告人介绍:

    阮教授于1989年获香港理工大学学士学位，1993年获香港大学博士学位，博士毕业后加入香港浸会大学计算机系，目前是计算机系的系主任。阮教授曾在悉尼大学、马里兰大学帕克分校、法国国家信息与自动化研究所从事访问研究工作。阮教授参与组织过多次国际学术会议，他是2006年模式识别国际会议的track共同主席，2012年生物识别技术：理论，应用和系统国际会议的Program共同主席，是2015年该会议的顾问委员会成员。阮教授是《模式识别》国际期刊的编委，是《IEEE信息取证和安全汇刊》和《SPIE电子成像期刊》的副主编。阮教授也是香港研究资助局工程部的委员。阮教授的研究兴趣包括生物识别、视频监控等。
